Q: How much does it cost?
A: The Ster-O-Tap system costs from €80.00 excluding VAT, giving you substantial savings over the traditional building wide sterilising installation.
Q: Does it work?
A: Yes! Ster-O-Tap will successfully remove 99.999% of all bacteria and still cope with the high flow rates typical of a domestic water system in all types of buildings.
Q: Does the Ster-O-Tap filter reduce water pressure?
A: In good quality mains water it will cause a slight reduction in flow but this means that the customer will also save on energy as they will not have to use as much hot water for a typical shower.
Q: How often does the filter need changing?
A: The filter has been shown to provide up to 50 showers when using good quality mains water however the concentration of the Legionella-containing micro particles in the water to be filtered is unpredictable. Therefore, the membranes will gradually clog, which decreases the flow rate through the filter. If the flow rate is no longer acceptable the filter should be replaced. The service life of the shower filter can be prolonged if necessary by placing a pre-filter in the supply line to the shower. Changing the filter is a quick and simple process.
Q: Will it fit all types of shower heads?
A: Yes! Ster-O-Tap comes with adapter rings to allow fitting on any type of shower head.
Q: If Legionella bacteria is present, can you catch it by handling the shower head or filter?
A: In order to get Legionnaires' disease you have to breathe it in to your lungs in the form of an aerosol (droplet) of water. Handling of a shower head or filter does not cause aerosols to be produced.
Q: What scientific proof is there that Ster-O-Tap is so effective?
A: The Ster-O-Tap filter has been independently tested by leading scientific institutions such as:
- The Dutch KIWA (The Quality Assurance Organization for the Dutch Water Works Corporations).
- The Belgium VITO (The Flemish State Research Institute and the environmental reference laboratory).
- The German GfPS (a FDA [American Food & Drug Administration]-recognized testing institute in Aachen, Germany.
- GGD, the public health service in Curaçao,
- Official certification has been granted by the well respected North American National Sanitation Foundation (NSF).
Q: What if I don’t run water through Ster-O-Tap for an extended period?
A: That is no problem. Just run water through if for over a minute before use and it’ll work perfectly.
Q: Do AquaChem provide a guarantee with Ster-O-Tap?
A: AquaChem guarantees that the Ster-O-Tap filter will remove 99.999% of all bacteria including E. coli and Legionella, together with other disease causing organisms such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia.
Q: What follow-up services do AquaChem provide once Ster-O-Tap has been installed?
A: AquaChem can provide full bacteria and other micro organisms tests to confirm that these organisms have been removed where the Ster-O-Tap filters and showers are used.
